It’s one of the country’s top taco shops, and Arcadia’s about to have its first taste. Tacos Tequila Whiskey, a tell-it-like-it-is former food truck-turned sit-down restaurant, is listed among the “21 Best Mexican Restaurants in America” and the “10 Best Taco Spots in the U.S.,” and the Denver-based eatery that has everyone from Bon Appetit to Food Network magazine singing its praises opens in Arcadia Friday, May 19.

Holding true to its moniker, tacos are at the heart of chef and owner Kevin Morrison’s Mexican street food-inspired menu, and as such, there are plenty of traditional and unconventional options for brunch, lunch and dinner. Think the Pinche Hash, packed with carnitas, smashed potatoes, caramelized onion hash, eggs and green chile hollandaise, or the Cordero, featuring braised lamb shank, esquite, queso fresco and -cilantro, among multiple others.

As the name implies, a carefully curated collection of small-batch tequila, whiskey and spirits is also among the draws at Arcadia’s newest eatery, all of which will be up for grabs during Tacos Tequila Whiskey’s official grand opening celebration.

Guests who stop in during Tacos Tequila Whiskey’s grand opening Friday, May 19 can enjoy all day happy hour ($2 beers, $5 cocktails and various starters from $2) while being among the first to check out the neighborhood’s newest hangout.

Attendees over 21 are also encouraged to sign up to win a “Tacos + Tequila Takeover,” where they can score a year’s worth of free tacos and a free liquor locker on site. Fans can enter now.

“It’s Tacos Tequila Whiskey, but it definitely has a uniquely Arizona vibe,” said Morrison, whose previous claims to fame include founding Red Tomato Specialty Produce and the Spicy Pickle Sub Shop. “We love the feel and vibe here in Arcadia, and we hope to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.”
