Taryn Jeffries
Taryn Jeffries grew up in a small town in Illinois with a doting Grandmother who taught her the way around a kitchen. With 13 Aunts and Uncles, there were always family activities and the food was a major factor. With a diverse family background, there were always new things to try and test. These events taught her that food is representative of love, and she loves to see how that love is represented by Valley chefs.
Since then Taryn has tried her hand at replicating old family favorites as well as testing out new delicacies for her own family. Her kitchen is teeming with food related magazines and countless cookbooks, dog-eared and full of post-it notes. Always willing to test her palate and share her experiences with others, especially her two small and sometimes finicky children. After the birth of her last child, she was able to flex her domestic muscles with almost a year at home by creating week-long menus and baking daily treats for the kids, in the hopes of channeling her best Desperate Housewife – without the messy drama. So far, so good!
In addition to running all things PhoenixBites, Taryn is also a monthly contributor to So Scottsdale and Uptown Magazines, sharing her insight on the best dishes and where to get them each and every month.
Her passion for food journalism has led to recently creating a community of food writers in which she heads up and hosts monthly restaurant events, known in that community as PhoenixBites FBAZ Food Tours. These events contain an educational aspect that helps all of the group members to grow their writing, photography and social media skills. Some would see these other writers as competition, but Taryn sees that everyone has their own voice and background, which allows for everyone to have their own unique voice.
Taryn is excited to introduce readers to local culinary gems as well as learn a thing or two herself!
Taryn currently resides in Chandler with her husband and two children of her three children.
Some of her favorite restaurants in the area include Chico Malo, Dominick’s, and Cuisine & Wine Bistro.
