Apple-Walnut Charoset Recipe
Passover calls for get-togethers with family and friends and of course, food. You’re worried that the holiday could have harmful effects on your diet – but it doesn’t have to be that way! In fact, Passover is a great opportunity to experiment in the kitchen, finding new easy, healthy and tasty recipes.
This sweet and fueling Apple-Walnut Charoset recipe was provided by our friends at Medifast.
- 3 medium Gala or Fuji apples peeled, cored and cut into chunks
- 1.5 cups walnut halves lightly toasted and cooled
- .5 cups sweet red wine like Manischewitz Extra Heavy Malaga (or grape juice as a substitute)
- 1.5 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
- Give walnuts a quick pulse in a food processor
- Add apples and reminaing ingredients and process until just blended and spreadable, but not too mushy
- Store covered at room temperature until ready to serve. Can refrigerate if you prefer chilled
