TEXAZ Grill Hosts a Special Chili Contest

My calendar says that the winter here in Arizona should be ramping down, but I’m sitting in my office in a sweatshirt, sweatpants, a blanket and fluffy socks (super glamorous, I know) and I beg to differ. What could be more comforting and warming than a nice bowl of chili? TEXAZ Grill is with me on that one and wants to hear all about your favorite chili recipes in preparation for National Chili Day on March 22nd through a special chili contest.

We’re not talking about your standard every day, pour it in a bowl add some cheese and be done with it chili. TEXAZ Grill is looking for unique dishes that incorporate chili as the featured ingredient. Think something along the lines of a grilled cheese and chili sandwich, chili eggs benedict, tamales… something a little outside of the box.

You’re invited to submit your recipe via email to or you can personally deliver a printed copy to the restaurant. The contest will run from February 23rd through March 31st. TEXAZ Grill chef and owner, Steve Freidkin, who has served as a judge at the annual World Championship Chili Cook-Off in Terlingua, Texas for the past 30 years, will be selecting the winner.

What Does the Winner of the Chili Contest Get?

The winner will receive all you can eat chili for one year (one visit per month, not take away or sharing) at TEXAZ Grill as well as having their recipe on the specials menu. SO exciting!
