Fry’s Food Stores partner with ONE Community Foundation for one-of-a-kind Pride promotion

ONE Community Foundation and Fry’s Food Stores are proud to announce a unique promotion for the month of June, which is national Pride month.

During the month of June, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Jones Soda, Neuro Brand Products, and Smirnoff  will benefit the ONE Community Foundation to support educational programs working to build an Arizona that is Open for Business to Everyone.  Products available for the promotion will be marked with special ONE Community Foundation rainbow heart stickers.  The promotion will also include in-store signage supporting inclusion and equality for all Arizonans.

“We are thrilled and honored to partner with Fry’s Food Stores and their vendors for this one-of-kind promotion during the month of Pride and are thankful for their leadership in our community,” said Angela Hughey, co-founder and president of ONE Community.  “This promotion will not only help support our education programs, but will also help raise awareness about the importance and benefits of diversity, inclusion, and equality to all Arizonans,” concluded Hughey.

The ONE Community Foundation is dedicated to educating and raising awareness about Arizona’s lack of equal protections, and why those protections are so vital not just for gay and transgender people, but for Arizona’s economic future.  Through the UNITY Pledge, Open for Business, and Change Agent programs, the foundation is able to educate and engage the general public, business leaders, faith leaders and elected officials with the goal of creating an inclusive Arizona.

Fry’s Food Stores, the state’s third largest employers, has also signed the UNITY Pledge in support of full inclusion and equality in the workplace, housing, and public accommodations for all Arizonans, including LGBT community members.  Fry’s joins over 1,800 businesses and organizations including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Professional Firefighters of Arizona, PetSmart, Yelp, GoDaddy and Coca-Cola in supporting a fully inclusive Arizona.  Currently, five municipalities have ordinances that ban discrimination; however, Arizona has no statewide laws that protect LGBT individuals from being fired based on their sexual orientation or gender identity or discriminated against in housing and public accommodations.

We proudly serve our loyal customers day in and day out regardless of who they are or whom they love.  There is no room for discrimination when it comes to our customers,” said JoEllen Lynn, Fry’s Spokesperson.  “And we also believe there is no room for discrimination in how we treat our associates.  That’s why we have a non-discrimination policy at Fry’s that protects all of our associates equally and ensures that people are evaluated based on their work performance – nothing more, nothing less,” continued JoEllen.
