LaMarca Prosecco: A viable Champagne alternative

Most of the time the Prosecco bubbly ends up getting mixed in with something else as a “fizz enhancer”. But if you’re only doing that, you’re selling thLaMarca-Proseccois guy short. Sure, it makes a great backbone for a Mimosa or frozen desert; but don’t let that cause you to overlook its real potential.

In recent years Prosecco has been making a steady move into the sparkling wine market, not only as a Champagne alternative, but also as a fresh taste choice for sparkling wines. Proseccos now can be found at just about every bar and restaurant, right there, and ready to pop!

Take a growing Prosecco brand like LaMarca. They have managed to export the flavors of the white wines of the Veneto region right into our local market and with pizzazz. Add the nice finely apportioned bubbles provided by second tank fermentation and you have a distinctive, yet nicely priced, sparkling wine.

Total Wine now has LaMarca on sale for under $15, and they also have the 1.5 liter celebration sizes for under $30. Its quick-to-rise bouquet of fresh citrus is nearly as classy as a Champagne creation costing twice as much, with plenty of long-living fizz to match.

For those planning on serving an extensive appetizer course, this one is ideal and will provide excellent “starter support” for heartier things to follow. The clean pairing of this bubbly at such a good price will keep LaMarca in demand for some time to come.
