Holiday Gift Idea: Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill & Spice and Nut Grinder
Every coffee-addict should have his/her own Coffee Grinder for those mornings when nothing else quite satisfies like a rich, dark cup of coffee. There’s a remarkable difference between a cup of coffee that comes from bagged ground coffee compared to a cup brewed from freshly-ground whole beans. If you have a few extra seconds before you head out the door for work, grind your beans right before your brew–it’s totally worth it.
I had the chance to test Cuisinart’s Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill from their Premier Coffee Series. Retailing at $49.95, the attractive stainless steel mill blends in nicely on any countertop and can grind up to 18 cups at a time. I love the see-through bean hopper and grind chamber so you can actually watch the machine in action. With 18 different settings (from fine to coarse), you can quickly adjust the hopper for whatever you’re in the mood for that day—from espresso for a latte or cappuccino, percolated coffee or a regular brew.
The coffee mill couldn’t be easier to use. Simply pour your beans in the bean hopper, select your grind and number of cups and turn it on.
Its built-in electric timer automatically shuts off when it detects that the right amount of coffee has been ground (meaning, you don’t have to meticulously measure out the perfect amount of beans… it does all the work for you).
Its burr plates uniformly grind the coffee without producing heat from friction, so your coffee retains its flavor and delicate oils for an aromatic cup of coffee. Clean-up is very simple; all of its removable parts are dishwasher safe (top rack only). Learn more about the Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill at cuisinart.com.
Another must-have appliance in any cook’s kitchen is a good spice grinder. The flavor and aroma of freshly ground hard spices (like cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, anise, cloves and fennel) are unlike anything you’ll buy pre-ground in a grocery store. Cuisinart’s Spice and Nut Grinder works flawlessly to grind a variety of nuts and spices to make your sweet and savory creations extra special. Aesthetically, it pairs well next to the coffee mill as its stainless steel exterior and black accents dress up your countertops.
The grinder is small enough that it won’t take up much room and can easily be stored in your cupboards or pantry. And, it’s just as effortless to use—Cuisinart includes a booklet of grinding suggestions, measurements and grinding times for you to follow or you can just grind your spices and nuts until desired consistency.
Simply drop your spices in the brushed stainless steel bowl, top with the push down lid and press until ground. Included, you’ll get a lid that allows you to store unused spices right in the grinding bowl so they’ll stay fresh. If you’re making your own spice blend (think a seasoned garlic salt with freshly ground peppercorns or your own holiday spice blend with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves), you can concoct and store your seasoning right in the same bowl and save on dishes!
Cleanup is a breeze. All removable parts can be tossed in the dishwasher, but they’re just as easy to wipe down with a clean cloth. I really enjoyed grinding fresh cinnamon for our batch of holiday cinnamon rolls; the aroma of freshly ground cinnamon is so comforting and screams ‘Christmas!’ Grinding was quick and easy… all it took was 2 cinnamon sticks (broken in half), a quick pulse 3 times in a row and then processed for 45 seconds. The grind was uniform and exactly what I was hoping to achieve.
With the spice and nut grinder, you’ll get several recipes included in the back of your instruction booklet like Tahini (making your own is a huge money saver), Five Spice Powder, Curry Powder, Crab and Seafood Seasoning, Peanut Dipping Sauce and more. The spice and nut grinder retails for $39.95 and is a great addition to any kitchen. Learn more about it at cuisinart.com.

You will also need to be careful with citrus fruit because they have a lot of
citric acid in them. Most high functioning juicers will cost somewhere in the range of $200 to $2,

family to enjoy every time we tried it.
