Pantry Must-Have: Terrapin Ridge Farms Sweet Onion White Balsamic Dressing

Posted on: March 5th, 2013 by Amy Martin No Comments

You may have seen their products on the aisles of your local AJ’s, but if your curiosity hasn’t yet struck to pick up a bottle of Terrapin Sweet Onion White Balsamic Dressing, I’m about to sway you. The sweet onion balsamic is just one of several new items recently debuted by Terrapin Ridge Farms, makers of all-natural and gluten-free specialty food products, and barely lasted a couple of days in my house. It was the first Terrapin product I tried and as soon as I opened up my bottle and got a quick taste, I imagined plenty of ways it would get used in my kitchen. I love its sweet/tanginess and found it really complemented a grilled steak and strawberry salad I had already planned for that night. Since then, I’ve used it on many different salads, as a dunking sauce for raw veggies and even on sandwiches (yum). If you only try one Terrapin product, it’s gotta be this one.

Terrapin’s new Creamy Italian White Balsamic Dressing is also very good – I used it to make a creamy Italian potato salad that was anything but ordinary, and it made lovely side salads to our weekly Italian dinners.

The brand also added two new dips to their repertoire, the Bacon & Chive Dip that goes with just about anything and is highly addictive (because, who doesn’t love bacon?) and Strawberry Honey Mustard Pretzel Dip which I had already heard raves about from friends. Terrapin recommends drizzling their blueberry/honey mustard combo over a log of goat cheese and serving with buttery crackers (I grabbed a pack of my favorite Rosemary Wheat Crackers from Fresh & Easy) which is exactly what I did with the strawberry variation. I didn’t have any left to experiment any other way because it’s that good.

The new Chipotle Aioli was a spicy treat with onion rings, though there are plenty of other, and perhaps more creative, ways to use this dipping sauce than I came up with. If Chipotle isn’t your vibe, they also offer a Thai Chili Aioli that also packs a bit of heat and though the two are very different, I found I could use them interchangeably.

Find the new Terrapin products at your local AJ’s Fine Foods or online at terrapinridge.com. You need a bottle of that Sweet Onion White Balsamic Dressing… trust me.
