T-fal’s new product line balances life without breaking the bank

Posted on: October 8th, 2012 by Amy Martin No Comments

Just last month, T-Fal launched a brand new line of kitchen appliances and cookware, known as their Balanced Living collection. With the new line, making homemade edibles and drinkables that your family loves is more affordable. Appliances needed to make healthy, from-scratch products tend to cost a pretty penny, but with T-Fal’s new selection of products, you won’t have to empty your wallet to make healthy changes in your diet.

New appliances like the Yogurt Maker ($39.99) offers an alternative to store-bought yogurt cups letting you make home-made treats with your favorite produce and natural ingredients (great for gluten-free and no-dairy diets). The Rice & Multi Cooker ($59.99) is a 3-in-1 product that can cook rice, steam veggies and slow cook soups and stews all with this single appliance. Make soups in big batches and freeze for handy, to-go lunches during the week for a simple, satisfying meal.

One of my favorite appliances that can really inspire healthy changes in my family’s diet is the juicer. Fresh juice made at home without all that added junk is an easy way to get in important vitamins and nutrients from fruits and vegetables and super easy to sneak into my toddler’s diet. For me, it’s much easier to ‘drink’ my daily veggies than exhaust myself through an entire plate. Quality juicers tend to be very expensive, but are worth the investment.

I had the opportunity to test T-Fal’s new Balanced Living Juice Extractor ($79.99) to experience all its bells and whistles and it truly met the mark of a quality juicer. First off, I love the look of the design. The juicer is a crisp, bright white with lime green and stainless steel accents that look lovely on any countertop.

It features an extra-large, whole fruit feeding tube that was big enough to feed most of my apples whole, without any chopping. Its anti-drip spout prevents mess (unlike my previous juicer) and it even comes with a 1.5-liter pitcher that fits onto the spout with an insert that separates foam.

For me, the only downside of fresh juice is that awful foam separation. Past experiences with juicing left me with a glass of foam so thick you could skate on its head. The pitcher’s foam separator completely eliminated any of that.

With two different speeds, you can juice either hard or soft fruits. Hard veggies passed through the filter easily as the motor is very powerful, yet still quieter than my previous juicer.

All parts breakdown easily and they can all be thrown in your dishwasher for easy clean up, even the stainless steel filter. No need to wash by hand!

I whipped up a quick combo of carrots, apples, and celery, and juice was extracted within seconds, even from the whole apple, core and all.

Voila! When pouring, the insert separates the foam from the juice so none escapes into your glass.

Parent Tip: Add an apple in with veggies juices for picky toddlers. Fresh apple juice is so sweet, that it’ll mask all the green stuff. If color is the issue, add in a carrot for a pop of orange and the kiddos will be more inclined to give it a taste.

The juicer and other Balanced Living items can be purchased at T-Fal’s online store and many major retailers.
