It’s a ‘Family Affair’

Posted on: April 5th, 2012 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

One of my first “real” dates with my husband was at an Eddie Matney restaurant (think back to the Biltmore days). One of the first Chef interviews that I did for PhoenixBites was with Chef Eddie Matney. He is by far one of the most colorful and exciting chefs here in the Valley. So, when I saw that Eddie’s House was running a contest to ‘Cook with Eddie’ I may have freaked out a little bit!

Throughout the month of April, a new winner will be chosen each Tuesday to assist in the creation of a special entree for the evening and be involved in the entire kitchen process. To be considered for this – in my opinion – incredibly prestigious honor, simply go to the Eddie’s House website and complete the online application form.

While the idea of the contest in itself is exciting enough, it just so happens that a member of my very own family will be heating up the kitchen at Eddie’s House this coming Tuesday, April 10th. My husband, Jake Jeffries, applied and was chosen to participate. I cannot wait to see what he and Chef Eddie come up with as well as to hear all the stories from the kitchen! In the past, he has worked in the front of the house of several restaurants for about 15 years; the coolest of which was The Pilot House restaurant on Mackinac Island in Michigan. He’s been known to tinker in our very own kitchen creating anything from some really amazing smoked ribs, to something lovingly referred to as a bacon log.

I encourage you all to make it out to the restaurant on the 10th to check out the restaurant if you’ve never been, stop by to say hello (I plan to be there for the majority of the evening with my littles) and take part in their fabulous Happy Hour and have a creatively crafted dinner!

Jake Jeffries’ dinner will only be offered on Tuesday, April 10th. Enjoy the delicious four course meal (which includes an appetizer, salad, entrée and dessert) for $50 or you may choose to order the items a la carte. The Eddie’s House regular menu will also be available.

Call the restaurant at 480-946-1622 to make reservations or you can reserve them online. Come out and say hello and make sure to go apply, maybe the next dinner we talk about could be featuring you!
