Restaurant Opening | Are you Ready for a New Central Phoenix Hula Location?

Posted on: January 16th, 2018 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

For me, Hula’s Modern Tiki has always been a sort of departure from the real world. Not in any sort of delusional-I’m-off-my-meds kind of way, but in a perfect temporary departure from all the busy of the modern world. With the new Central Phoenix Hula location, I’m going to have a fancy new “get away” option.

Are you Ready for a New Central Phoenix Hula Location_The Basics

The newest location is now under construction in Uptown, on 7th Street just north of Camelback Road. The 4,000 square foot space will feature a second tiki bar, The Captain’s Club as well as a 40 person private dining room. Hula’s owner, M. Dana Mule, has handcrafted the customized space which will replace the original Hula’s Modern Tiki in Phoenix.

“This all new Hula’s location allows us to remain in the Uptown Phoenix neighborhood that has loved and supported us since day one,” Mule says. “Plus, we’re adding a private dining and event space called ‘The Tiki Room’, a larger main dining room with lots of cozy booth seating, and a bigger main bar. We’re also blowing out an exterior wall and adding a fire-pit to create a new version of the (pet-friendly) indoor-outdoor dining patio that Hula’s Phoenix is famous for.” But that’s just a taste of all the exotic tropical elements aboard the all-new Hula’s, including a second hidden tiki bar with its own entry off 7th Street. “This intimate 28-seat bar is named The Captain’s Cabin, and will serve up both modern and classic tiki cocktails in a wood-paneled space featuring custom tiki artwork and nautical decor reminiscent of a 1950s Tahitian sailing ship cabin.”

The Booze

The Central Phoenix Hula’s Captain’s Club is sure to delight diner with its Uku Nui cocktail menu which will be flush with rare rum flights and craft cocktails. The menu will feature six gourmet tiki tipples that are all hand-shaken with housemade syrups and bitters as well as fresh squeezed juices. You’re also invited to take a self-guided tropical tour of 24 of the world’s finest rums, found on their new rum flight menu.

The Bites

The new Central Phoenix Hula will showcase the familiar award-winning menu of Island style eats. Diners love their South Seas fish tacos, crispy coconut shrimp rolls and my personal favorite – their island poke. I also hear that their weekend brunch is a shining star. How can you go wrong with eggs benedict with fried spam?

The new location is not scheduled to open until summer, which means the original location will remain open through June.

We can’t wait to get a peek at the new digs! Are you excited to see what the Central Phoenix Hula has in store?
