Posted on: April 8th, 2017 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

Square One Concepts continues to add to its bar and restaurant portfolio, this Spring introducing The Funky Monka colorfully comfortable throwback spot that produces delicious food by day and a psychedelic lounge vibe by night.

The Funky Monk in Tempe is Now OpenThe Funky Monk interior features bright patchwork seating, a full-service bar and a state-of-the-art sound system perfect for dance music including everything from vintage throwbacks to top 40 hits every weekend. In addition, the venue offers comfortable seating for dining indoors and out to revel in the brilliant Arizona climate.

The Funky Monk character is an innovative take on Belgian monks known for their rich beer-making tradition dating back to the sixth century.  The image also is reminiscent of Arizona’s Camelback Mountain rock formation, Praying Monk, which is roughly 100 feet high, situated on the northeastern side of the mountain.

While the décor offers patrons a whimsical getaway, they’ll also experience a signature quality menu of conventional American fare with a snappy twist.  Healthy-to-indulgent starters like a nosh board, stuffed mushrooms and fried calamari options are joined by the Super Monk and Disco-tec-a pizzas; a grilled caprese sandwich and elevated pasta selections such as pasta with 24 karat mac and lemon pepper garlic chicken.
