Bisol’s “Jeio” Cuvee Rosé: Soft on the Bubbles

Posted on: November 8th, 2016 by Tom Peiffer No Comments

One type of Prosecco sparkling wine that is often overlooked actually comes in the pink.  Made with grapes that can taste as well as the better known non-bubbly Rosé wines, these are refreshingly dry and quite easy to drink.

Bisol’s “Jeio” Cuvee Rosé: Soft on the BubblesMinus the zappy character found in some of the really dry Proseccos, the pink ones make for a surprising change up.  This alternative is especially welcome out on the patio when richer appetizers like stuffed mushrooms need a pairing partner.

Bisol’s “Jeio” Cuvee Rosé is definitely in the “soft entry” category with a wonderful floral bouquet featuring just a little raspberry.  In fact, this selection really worked in a traditional wine glass rather that a Champagne flute; this was done to emphasize its bouquet.

Because of a cleverly designed blend of Merlot and Pinot Nero, its creamy softness and nice color are unique.  The acidity remains under control with minute traces of sweetness.  This is probably what makes it pair so well with a wide variety of appetizers.

Be sure to serve right when you need it because the bubbles tend to fade after 15 minutes or so.  With under 12% alcohol, it can also be served with a light luncheon.

Right now, Total Wine has the white version of “Jeio” on sale for around $18.  But stay tuned for the Rosé, because it is showing up at many more online stores for about the same price.
