Many of you have to have it several times a day. Some of you can’t even function without having it first thing in the morning. What am I talking about? Get your minds out of the gutter, friends! I’m talking about coffee! Did you know that Thursday is National Coffee Day? If you are looking to celebrate in stellar fashion, you are going to want to drag yourself out of bed and get to Cartel Coffee Lab, for a few reasons.

First off, on Thursday, September 29th, anyone that comes in and signs up to stay connected with Cartel by registering their email address will receive a free large cold brew or large hot drip coffee. That’s a serious reward for signing up for a newsletter!

In addition to free coffee, from September 29th through October 6th, Cartel is raising funds to support La Familia Gomez and their small collection of Colombian family coffee farms by donating $3 from every Familia Gomez whole bean coffee bag sold. That $3 will go directly to the family. The small collection of farms produces just enough coffee to fulfill their line of fresh exclusive whole beans offered at Cartel.

What You Need to Know About Cartel Coffee Lab and La Familia Gomez

The Tempe-based company has been a longtime supporter of some of the world’s smallest, most responsible independent coffee growers.

We’re always championing for small family farms like Familia Gomez,” said Paul Haworth, Cartel’s Director of Coffee Production. “From personally visiting their farm to raising funds to help improve their existing facilities, we love recognizing their hard work and showing our appreciation for their highly-skilled craft.”

La Familia Gomez is headed by Isuara Martinez and her four children. Their humble family farm has faced a number of challenges through the years. Both the guerilla warfare in the region and the Colombian tradition of subdividing existing farm plots into smaller parcels as they are passed from one generation to the next have taken a toll on their farm.

Familia Gomez coffee produces coffee that is thoroughly complex with elements of pomegranate and walnut, among other flavor profiles. You can purchase and order your own bags of this unique blend by visiting Cartel in person as well as ordering online.
