Coppola Winery on “Diamond on the Diamond” tour
Last Wednesday, April 29th, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery began a tour that will take them to ballparks all over the country. They will be introducing their wines to the large distributors, the press, and local restaurant owners.
But why wine at a ball park? After all, it is a sea of beer out there, especially at a Diamond Backs game? In reply, the Coppola winemakers and marketing staff are quick to explain about their diamond logo and how the theme simply goes together with the bigger diamond out there on the field.
No matter what happens on the rest of their tour to other great American ball parks in the coming weeks, their choice to have a wine tasting over by the pool at Chase Field was quite appropriate. In addition, wine by poolside is a pastime that all of us are warming up to as summer approaches.
Coppola’s winemaker recommends leading off that pool party with a Pinot Grigio, next up a with Pinot Noir as the food is served, and then go down through the order with bigger reds to suit the taste of your guests. Check out their suggested lineup in the photo and slam it over the right field fence!
