DineWise: A ‘wise’ decision

In a perfect world, we would all be able to go out to the finest restaurants every night or have the most premium ingredients at our immediate disposal for any passing craving. So what do you do if you’re too busy for cooking and completely opposed to unhealthy, fast foods? The options aren’t vast, that’s for sure.

There truly is something for everyone, even meals focused on dietary restriction (low sodium, vegetarian, diabetic, weight loss, etc.). The DineWise meals focus more on the health aspect as far as the meal packages go, with a focus on specific dietary restrictions or needs. Home Bistro meals focus less on calories and far more on amazing taste and rich flavors, though they do offer ‘lighter side’ options. Colorado Prime Meats offer up some of the best and most flavorful cuts of meat…from steak, poultry, pork seafood and lamb as well as appetizers and desserts.

I was delighted when I received a sample shipment of DineWise products and was hard-pressed to find a place to start! While there were so many items that I quite enjoyed, my absolute favorite would have to be the  Home Bistro Lobster Bisque which I served myself in the provided bread bowl.

While I did have this in the heat of the Arizona summer, as I savored this dish in the confines of my spacious cubicle, I was transported to a mid-west winter afternoon. I could see myself adorned in an Irish Cable Knit sweater as I peered at the steam coming off the soup preciously ladled into the bread bowl. I had several co-workers wander over to my space to find out what in the world I was having that smelled so amazing. Their recipe is based on a New England classic, complete with cream, white wine and thyme. You can taste the complexity of the fresh ingredients in every bite, all of that in conjunction with the bread bowl was perfection!

DineWise doesn’t forget about breakfast – the Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal with Toasted Almonds was a feast for all my senses. First off, as it was being prepared it smelled phenomenal. The cinnamon apples were perfectly tender without turning to mush and sweet without being sickeningly so. The contrast of textures was delightful. I could easily eat this for breakfast every day and not bore of it.

Thinking ahead a month or so – the menu options for holiday dining are exquisite and, thankfully, available all year long. I have been known to have a major craving for Thanksgiving dinner right around late April. This year, instead of all the work and clean up, I can just order a dinner for four and have all the glory and great taste and none of the stress or clean up. Genius.

All in all – the meals are delicious, nutritionally sound and completely customizable.  I made them all at work, as you can see by my photos, to show how easy they were to prepare in any setting.
