New Restaurant: Bar en Gril Open in Gilbert

Posted on: September 22nd, 2011 by Amy Martin 1 Comment

There’s a new restaurant in Gilbert on the southwest corner of Val Vista Drive and Elliot Road: Bar en Gril. Product of Aaron Lopo, the restaurant’s mission is to pair an everyday family-friendly dining environment with classic bar food, and of course, to offer the neighborhood a comfortable spot for sports-watching.

Aaron has planned to unveil two restaurant concepts in the Valley, with Bar en Gril being the first. He brings experience working with Paul Flemming and his restaurants in upper management over the last decade.

The menu features uniquely-named dishes for all-American classic bar grub. Starters include Not So Hard Pretzels (warm soft pretzels served with horseradish Dijon and cheese dips) and Wings available in a selection of sauces: Fiery, Just Enough, Very Tame, Good Ol’ BBQ, Lil Sweet Lil Spicy, Heated Mustard, Far East Yaki, Oh! Turn Down the BBQ, and Garlic S&P.

You’ll find sandwich selections including the Roasted Turkey Pretzel Sandi (Turkey breast, havarti cheese, homemade coleslaw and a side of cranberry served on pretzel bread | $10), the Big Town Burger (homemade patty topped with thick bacon, aged smoked gouda, tomato, arugula, red onion, and secret sauce on a toasted bun | $9.50) and the Ahhmazing Prime Rib Dippity-Dip (thinly sliced prime rib soaked in cabernet au jus on an Italian roll with horseradish sauce | $12).

A variety of pizzas and salads are available as well.

Aside from the menu, you’ll notice a number of pink Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbons throughout. To support the cause, Bar en Gril donates a percentage of all chicken breast sales to breast cancer awareness per annum.

Hands down, this is simply a wonderful restaurant! Whether you’re there for a meal, munchies and/or happy hour, you will enjoy every bit of it, I promise! Great to watch sporting events at too, as they have TV’s everywhere throughout the bar. They have an in-house band that plays every weekend. I can’t rate that yet, as I haven’t been there for it, but have heard a lot of positive about that as well. The owners, Tara & Dan and Aaron are what makes |Bär|Ən|Gril| so awesome!
