Mothers Love Meat Too!
I am sad to report that I have not yet been to Fogo de Chao. I have heard of this Disneyland for meat-lovers long before it arrived in Arizona and have been so enamored by the concept that it hurts me to be reminded that I have still not been! But, I have the perfect excuse now, were I to pretend that I needed one. Mother’s Day is fast approaching and I am a very proud mother to my two tiny boys. And, there is no one in my house more deserving of an elegant Brazilian meal as a Mother’s Day gift than me!!
Fogo de Chao’s rich Brazilian history provides diners with a culinary escape, starting with the Gauchos presenting you with a plethora of protein choices: beef, pork, lamb or chicken–all prepared on a churrasqueira grill. Once you make your difficult decision, your Gaucho will slice the meat table side from the roasting skewers. The diner is in complete control of the pace of your meal with the cards provided at your table. Use the green card as a sign to keep the meat coming or red to indicate that you need a bit of a break.
While I would wonder what you were doing at Fogo were you not there for the meat… just in case you desire a little variety you will find a gourmet salad bar as well. This bar features over 30 cheeses, vegetables and cured meats; mashed potatoes, caramelized bananas, polenta, Brazilian cheese bread; an award-winning wine list as well as authentic Brazilian drinks. You likely won’t have room for dessert–but this is your celebration moms, so dig deep!
You can find more information on Fogo de Chao here or by calling 480-609-8866.
And a special note to my husband: Reservations are recommended, so get on it!!

What are you waiting for!!!!! This is the BEST deal in the valley. Forget paying $40-$50 for a measly 6oz cut of meat. You can get lamb chops or leg of lamb, steak, chicken, pork, turkey. Go with a group. This is truly family style dining. They bring a TON of side dishes to the table. Rice, beans, fried banana, Pão de queijo (a type cheese roll), fried polenta, and mashed potato. Plus all the awesome stuff at the salad bar. You can get the cuts of meat prepared however you like it. But here is a tip. Save room for the picaña.(pee-kahn-ya) Ask for it! It’ is the top sirloin and you will love it!. It may be hard to do, but save room for the flan for dessert. It rocks!
