Drop In & Decorate Event
PhoenixBites is giving back to the community with our inaugural Drop In and Decorate Party. Drop in and Decorate is an organization who’s mission is to build bridges of caring and respect between groups within their own communities, and to offer a more personal way for people to make a difference. We do that with cookies — because cookies are universal, and because cookies make people happy.
Join us February 13th at Olive & Ivy at Scottsdale Waterfront from 8am-10am to decorate cookies that will be given to Justa Center and Florence Crittenton of Arizona on Valentine’s Day. Justa Center is a unique non-profit organization, the only one in Arizona, which reaches out to the homeless senior citizens in the Phoenix area. They provide a day resource center specialty designed to help those over the age of 55 to find appropriate housing, employment and other needed services. Florence Crittenton of Arizona is a 115 year old non-profit providing a comprehensive continuum of care to at risk girls ages 12 to 21, helping them to overcome and deal with issues regarding abuse, neglect, teen pregnancy & parenting as well as behavioral or mental health problems.
Luke Brady of azmagicians.com will be present to perform magic tricks as the crowd decorates cookies. As if giving back to the community while being entertained were not enough, we will be giving away over 30 door prizes as well! View our list of door prizes here. Each decorator will receive one raffle ticket upon arrival and raffle prizes will be drawn during each time slot of volunteers. Raffle prizes include an overnight stay in one of L’Auberge’s Spa Cottages in Sedona, Coyotes tickets, Ice Skating Party for up to 20 children at Arcadia Ice, $50 iTunes Gift Card, Dinner for 2 at Talavera, Dinner for 2 at Frank & Albert’s, and many more!
Olive & Ivy has graciously donated space for this event as well as the donation and preparation of 50 dozen cookies. All of the cookies will be packaged and delivered to the organizations on Valentine’s Day. Feel like giving a little extra? Both organizations are in constant need of personal care items. PhoenixBites will also be collecting personal care items for donation to these organizations.
