SodaStream: My new best friend
That’s right, I know it sounds crazy but my SodaStream Genesis is my new best friend. It is, by far, my favorite item in my kitchen. There are a billion and one reasons why you need this in your house. Okay, maybe not a billion and one, but pretty close to that.
The SodaStream Genesis is really compact and fits nicely into small spaces, so whether you have a lot or a little kitchen, it will fit your life perfectly. The unit is so easy to use that my seven-year-old can do it and gets jazzed when we need to make a new bottle. There are a TON of flavors to choose from. If you purchase your unit from the SodaStream website, you can also get a starter pack with a variety of flavors. If you opt to purchase from a local retailer (think Target) you can purchase a variety of flavors in full sizes. Our house has tried so many flavors, on their own as well as in mixed drinks. My all time favorite to date is the Sugar Free Energy. This little lifesaver is just like RedBull – in flavor as well as the ultimate result. Another benefit is that you control the level of fizz.
You can purchase additional BPA free liter bottles if you like to have more variety on hand or if you have several people in house with varying tastes.
The major selling factor with this product is the environmental aspect. Did you know that it takes 450 years for ONE plastic bottle to break down? Or that 141 billion bottles and cans end up in landfills every year? Crazy, right?
Not only are you doing the environment a huge solid by not polluting and creating unnecessary waste, but you will also be saving a ton of money. Let’s say, for example, that your family is used to buying a 12 pack of 12 ounce soda cans every week. The average cost not accounting for any store deals, is $4.00 and works out to 94 cents per liter. You can purchase a soda mix for $4.99 which makes 12 liters (or 50 servings) and breaks down to 42 cents a liter. If you make a habit of purchasing those 20 ounce soda bottles from the break room at work for $1.25 – that works out to $2.11 per liter…which is nuts! I make myself a liter of the Sugar Free Energy and take that to work with me. Were I to buy a small can of RedBull at work, that would cost me a whopping $2.25 which is just nuts to think about how little I can make it for myself.
This little powerhouse of a machine is extremely cost effective. There are eight adorable units to choose from online with a ninth coming shortly. The units range in price from $79.95-$199.95 and there are so many accessories to choose from. I love the convenience, efficiency and environmentally-friendly properties of this product.
Check out SodaStream for yourself and then order or run out and get yours today and let us know all about your experiences. I am sure you will love it just as much as I do!
