Roundup: What’s New in Food

A quick roundup of tasty restaurant news that has passed our desks lately:

Season’s 52 guests only have until July 4th to enjoy their limited time seasonal offering: Copper River Salmon. Available for lunch and dinner, Seasons 52’s Grilled Alaska Wild Copper River Salmon is served over summer corn risotto with roasted asparagus, grilled red peppers and dill mustard sauce. To complete the meal, Seasons 52’s Master Sommelier George Miliotes suggests two varietals that pair well with the Grilled Alaska Wild Copper River Salmon – the Markham Vineyards Chardonnay or Schug Pinot Noir as the perfect complement to the dish’s rich, fresh flavor.

  • Sapporo announced two new sushi specials for the fourth of July and the MLB all-star game in July. Friday, July 1st throughMonday, July 4th, guests can enjoy the sweet taste of Independence Day with the red, white, and blue-hued Summer Strawberry and Blueberry “Frushi” Roll, made with Sweet Coconut Rice, fresh Strawberries and Blueberries wrapped in Soy Paper and served with a housemade Pineapple Salsa ($7). Quite patriotic! Then, Friday, July8th through Tuesday, July 12th for Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game weekend, Sapporo will offer sports fans the “Rivalry Fire Roll” with Lobster Tempura, Crab Mix, Masago, Avocado, Cucumber, and Jalapeño, topped with Sautéed Shrimp, Shiitake Mushrooms, Onion, and a Spicy Sauce, set on fire ($17).
  • Saturday, July 9th from 9am-3pm, Fogo de Chão will collect new backpacks to benefit Operation Homefront of Arizona’s Back-to-School Brigade The program supports military families preparing to head back to school by providing new backpacks and school supplies to children of all ages. Fogo encourages guests to drop new backpacks off early, as the first 75 donations will receive a free Fogo de Chão lunch or dinner card, valued at $28.50 or $46.50 respectively. Additional backpack donations will receive a free Fogo de Chão dessert card. Guests can also sponsor a backpack with a donation of $35.
  • On Friday and Saturday (July 1st & 2nd) from 8pm-11pm, Alice Tatum, an award-winning jazz singer, performs at Different Pointe of View at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. Admission for each performance is complimentary for resort guests and $10 for non-resort guests.
  • Head back to the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort on Sunday, July 3rd for the Fourth of July Concert at the Falls. Begin the Fourth of July celebrations early with Groove Merchants from 7pm-9pm at the Falls Water Village. Keep cool in the pool while enjoying the tunes and the beginning of a long holiday weekend.
  • Carefree Station recently announced their new Cool Days of Summer Happy Hour. All beer, spirits, and a regularly rotating menu of more than 50 wine selections are offered at 50 percent off. The drink specials are available anywhere throughout the restaurant, any time of day. Beer lovers can choose from more than 100 bottled and draft domestic, import and craft brews. New wines will be regularly added to a rotating menu of more than 50 highly rated selections. The happy hour wine menu will be updated with hard-to-find selections, including some noteworthy 99 point wines Carefree Station plans to unveil. The discount is good on both glasses and bottles of wine.
  • Phoenix City Grille also released a new rotating Happy Hour Menu offered in the restaurant’s lounge from 3pm- 6pm Monday through Friday. House wines for $4 and house martini’s and wines by the glass for $6, every four to six weeks, Chef Hewitt will change up a variety items featured on the menu based on his inspiration from whatever fresh and seasonal ingredients are available. Some new happy hour items include the Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Aioli, Crispy Jalepenos & Cotija Cheese with Salsa Verde and Black Pepper Sweet Potato Fries, all $4 each. New $6 items include Double Cream Gouda Cheese with Toasted Almonds, Fresh Berries, Balsamic Reduction and Grilled Bread and Jumbo Bacon Wrapped Shrimp stuffed with Cotija Cheese .
  • Scramble, a breakfast joint in Phoenix, is offering FREE breakfast or lunch to the first 1,000 fans who “like” their Facebook page. For more details, follow this link.
