C’mon Baby, Light My Fire…

Posted on: October 3rd, 2011 by Amy Martin 1 Comment

There’s a new fire in town… and it’s fierce! Fierce Fire Foods announced their launch of a trio of Fire Fruit Nectars just a couple of months back. The company is based out of Peoria with a mission to create a flavorful sauce that breaks the bland monotony of “normal” condiments you’ll see on your grocery store’s shelves. The brand is product of creator and co-owner, Christopher Andrade. “I saw a unique opportunity to create my own proprietary blend of outrageous flavor combinations using the highest quality ingredients,” said Andrade. “The result is that life truly tastes better now.”

The first flavors in the Fire Fruit Nectar lineup are: Mucho Macho Mango, Guava Lava Red and Blazin’ Berry Chipotle. I recently had to opportunity to taste them all, and I must say, each of them really has its own unique flavor and gauge of heat.

I’m a chicken-wing lover. So, imagine my excitement to try out these new sauces – something different from the usual barbeque or buffalo (although I’d never tire of either). That’s the quickest way to use up a bunch of sauce in my house! Of course, I could find plenty of other uses for these too…

Fierce Fire Fruit Nectars

First, the Blazin’ Berry Chipotle was my personal favorite of the trio. All of the sauces are labeled as ‘sweet & mild’, though for me, this one packed just the perfect amount of heat. The flavor is a dance between raspberry and the Chipotle pepper… smoky sweet, with a little kick. This one is good enough to eat off a spoon (as long as no one’s watching!).

The Guava Lava Red is thinner than the rest, and would be a nice replacement for your ‘all purpose’ hot sauce as it could be added to just about anything. The sauce is created with flame-roasted cayenne and chile tepin pepper base with charred guava. The heat is mild (milder than the Blazin’ Berry Chipotle, in my opinion), but the flavor is absolutely not!

The Mucho Macho Mango is a bit uncharacteristic for my pantry, but if you’re looking for something a bit more one-of-a-kind with a decent kick, give it a try. Definitely the hottest of the bunch, I’d say the heat factor us a step up from mild. The Mucho Macho Mango is a roasted blend of five chile varieties, infused with mangos and peach essence, savory spices, pomegranate and blue agave. Try it on chicken, fish or pork.

All of the Fire Fruit Nectars are all-natural, low sodium, preservative free and gluten free and have no added sugar.

Find them at various Valley restaurants and grocers including The Good Egg, Shane’s Rib Shack, Oakville Grocery Company, and AJ’s Fine Foods, sold in 5 and 10oz. bottles. The Trio is also available to order online.

    I love these Fierce sauces.

Got all three and use them all the time. Mucho Macho Mango is my favorite right now as I am eating a lot of fish lately. Perfect for topping fish tacos.

I use the others also. Sometimes I mix Blazin’ Berry Chipotle with some sour cream to make a great little dip. Wanna spice up some black beans? …add some Guava Lava Red.
