Weekly Bites: Where to Eat this Week 5/27/2015 through 5/30/2015

With this being a short week for some, you have a limited amount of time to pack in some good times and great eats and there are some really fun events this week. A French Fry Crawl? Hugest Lemonade Stand ever? There’s even a beer and wine dinner thrown in for good measure!

Where to Eat on Wednesday| May 27th, 2015

Farmer in the House Dinner at Binkley’s
The Basics: The last dinner in the Farmer in the House series will take place at Kevin and Amy Binkley’s flagship restaurant, Binkley’s, as has become tradition. The inventive menu guarantees to pair beautifully with the multi-vineyard wine pairings. Seating begins at 6:3pm and dinner will start at 7pm. Reservations can be made by calling 480.437.2370.
The Bites: Guests will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, sweet baby carrot salad, fried green tomatoes, lobster stuffed squash blossoms, beef braised treviso, butter braised spring onions and a beet sponge cake. The paired wines will range from Poully-Fuisse, Alsacw, Pfalz, Paso Robles, Bierzo and Campo de Borja.
The Bucks: $95 per guest with wine pairings extra (not including tax and gratuity)

El Palacio & Prescott Brewing Dinner
The Basics: El Palacio and Prescott Brewing Company are pairing up for a flavor-filled beer paired dinner. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm and reservations can be made by calling 480.802.5770.
The Bites: You will be welcomed with an Achocolypse Sangria followed up with a roasted corn & avocado salad, chorizo “beanie weenie” tamale pie, roasted carnitas torta and finally with a s’more Mexican chocolate taco. Menu components will be pared with a variety of Prescott Brewing Company’s craft brews.
The Bucks: $25 per person (not including tax or gratuity)

Where to Eat on Thursday| May 28th, 2015

Fry Crawl PHX
The Basics: To say that I am devastated that I can’t make this event is an understatement. A French Fry Crawl?? Flip and Braden from Frites Street are leading a 1-day, 3(ish) hour tour across Phoenix where guests will follow the food truck to 4 different destinations offering up some of the tastiest fried taters in the Valley. Guests are responsible for their own transportation, but if you opt to travel by Uber you can use code FryCrawlPHX to get $25 off of your first ride. The event will begin at 6pm at the Welcome Diner. The caravan will then head off to Café at the Public Market, then Christopher’s and ending up at The Gladly. You can expect to spend about 30 minutes at each location. Tickets can be purchased online. The Bites: All.The.Fries!!! Expect to indulge in a carb fest that you can’t possibly feel guilty about. The Bucks: Tickets are available for $25 per person

MEXX32 Grand Opening
The Basics: What’s better that a bright and shiny new restaurant? One with 32 premium tequilas and beers! If you are looking for fresh, authentic street tacos in a modern, urban backdrop you’re going to love MEXX32. Stop by the grand opening from 8pm until 2am and enjoy the great flavors, Valley celebrities and the wide varieties of tequilas. A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to KidsRead USA, an Arizona charity that raises funds to buy books for needy children.
The Bites: The menu features 9 different types of street tacos with a little something for everyone. They also have 8 varieties of burritos along with rice bowls and enticing salads.
The Bucks: Menu prices are dependent on selections with street tacos ranging from under $5 or 3 for $12, salads range from $7 to $12.

Lemonade Days
The Basics: Make time for a brand new summer event in Queen Creek! The Lemonade Days will feature a free Summer Splash event from kids from 9am until noon at Founders Park. Beginning at noon the gates will open for the main event which will feature live entertainment from Reel Big Fish, a family friendly day of play complete with local food vendors, craft beer, spirits and a wine garden. “The Town is excited to sponsor Lemonade Days, coming to Town Center this spring. One of the goals of the Town Council is to increase the number of festivals in the community, giving residents additional opportunities to have fun with their families,” said Mayor Gail Barney, Town of Queen Creek.
“Festivals and events are also a key component of our tourism plan for Queen Creek, encouraging visitors to take a fresh look at our community and all that we have to offer. Lemonade Days will be an exciting addition to our calendar, and I know our residents will enjoy another chance to have a fun afternoon in Town Center.”
The Bites: You’ll find tons of tastes from local food trucks and restaurants along with a spirit garden featuring local craft beers and hard lemonades.
The Bucks: Summer Splash admission is free, General Admission to Lemonade Days is $10 and $8 prior to the event online. Guests aged 12 and under will receive free admission. VIP tickets can be purchased online for $45 and will provide you with access to a private seating area, private restrooms, food and beverage along with exclusive stage view access.
