New Cookbook: 300 Best Bread Machine Recipes by Donna Washburn & Heather Butt

Ever since I got a bread machine for Christmas of 2011, I’ve bought considerably less ‘specialty’ breads at my local grocery store because of how easy (and frugal) it is to make my own at home. There’s nothing quite like the smell of fresh bread baking… and I love the way the scent fills up my house. Growing up, I used to pass by a bread factory on my route to school and now the smell reminds me of childhood. I’m a huge sucker for traditional bread recipes (especially sourdough… a hot slice with a pat of butter is heaven to me), but I really enjoy experimenting with seasonal add-ins and holiday recipes.

300 Best Bread Machine Recipes, a new cookbook written by Donna Washburn and Heather Butt released in October and published by Robert Rose Inc., offers a collection of tried and true recipes formulated just for the bread machine. Inside, you’ll find tons of recipes including low-fat, international breads and even gluten-free recipes. No matter if you’re a novice baker or a seasoned one, their easy-to-follow instructions explain every step in detail.

Before you get started, you’ll find a section on how to adjust recipes and a quick tutorial on bread machine basics. Donna and Heather explain the ingredients you should always keep in your pantry for when you need to make bread in a pinch and explain their use and necessity in bread making.

You’ll find recipes like the San Francisco Firehouse Bread, Cheddar Beer Bread, Giant Parmesan Rosemary Breadsticks, Crunchy Cheese-filled Pretzels and Gluten-Free Sticky Buns.
