Events | Celebrate 124 Years with Taco Guild

We love pretty much any reason to celebrate with tacos and one of your favorite local taco spots is having a pretty epic birthday next week. The locale that houses Taco Guild is turning an impressive 124 years old and you’re not going to want to miss the celebration.

The Taco Guild building possesses a deep and thoroughly-chronicled past. Nineteen years before Arizona became the 48th state in the union, the tract of land was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. George and Edna Smith for $30 to erect a church. At the time of development in 1893, the church was called Smith’s Chapel and was an evolution of a one-room schoolhouse named Osborn School. When the new church opened one year later, 1894, the name changed to Bethel Methodist Church, honoring Mrs. Smith’s home church in Illinois.

Beginning on December 18th, guests are invited to enjoy a special Milagro Select Barell tequila tasting at 5, 7 and 9pm. For the remainder of the week (through the 24th) Taco Guild will have a birthday cocktail and shot special for patrons to enjoy. The birthday cocktail, the Feliz Cumplemango features a combination of Milagro Reposado tequila, Solerno blood orange liquor a black peppercorn syrup, fresh lime juice, mint and mango for $10. THe special shot, the Ancho Sour Drop is a mix of Ancho Reyes Chile liquor, Milagro Reposado tequila, fresh lemon and orange juice ($5). If you want to get a little crazy, or festive, and order both you’ll get a discount of $12.24, you know – because 124 years? The week’s menu will also feature a spiked birthday cake selection and daily taco specials.

And in what universe is there a birthday celebration and no presents? Taco Guild will be handing out a $25 gift card to one lucky diner all week long through a raffle drawing at 7pm every evening and one special $100 gift card on December 24th. Will you be among the lucky winners?
