Pita Jungle’s 3rd Annual Empty Bowls Event

Pita Jungle's 3rd Annual Empty Bowls Event: phoenixbites.com

2016 marks the third year of Pita Jungle’s Empty Bowls event and fundraiser. The event is a great way to enjoy a great meal at Pita Jungle, get a beautiful handmade clay bowl, as well as benefiting Waste Not. The holidays are a tough time for our communities economically disadvantaged and programs like these really make an impact.

How does the Empty Bowls Event Work?

From December 1st through the 15th, you’re invited to visit any one of the 15 Valley Pita Jungle locations and purchase a hand-crafted, custom bowl for $15. The bowls are created by local artists at Arizona Clay Association. In addition to the beautiful bowl, you will receive your choice of a small order of hummus or a serving of soup, for takeout or dine-in.

Make a Purchase and Make a Huge Difference

100 percent of the profits from the Empty Bowls event will go directly to Waste Not. 100%! Not only can the bowls become a one-of-a-kind gift for those on your holiday list, your purchase can also make an incredible impact on the hungry in our community.

“We are proud to not only continue our support of Waste Not but also to be a part of the local Empty Bowls movement,” said Bassel Osmani, co-founder, and co-owner of Pita Jungle. “With this program, we extend to our guests the opportunity to feed our community’s hungry once again this year, as hunger remains one of the most prevalent challenges in Arizona. The beauty of Empty Bowls lies in being able to support local artisans and support our fellow neighbors in need, at the same time.”

Waste Not Has a Long History of Helping in the Valley

Waste Not has been feeding the Valley’s hungry for more than 25 years. For every dollar donated to Waste Not, 6 people can be fed. That breaks down to 90 people being fed by one bowl purchase! That is a whole lot of good that you can do.

Waste Not reported that they rescued and transferred a record 2.5 million pounds of food last year to community members that needed it most. The organization is able to transfer up to 10,000 pounds of food every day to families in need. These are impressive numbers!

Make sure to head into any one of the local Pita Jungle between December 1st and December 15th to purchase your bowl (or bowls) and make a difference in the most delicious way!
