Friday Bites With Sarah Chisholm

Sarah Chisholm has had quite the life in the short amount of time on this earth. She lived out every young girl’s dream as a dancer with Ballet Arizona. In the past two years, she has moved from one passion to another, now holding the role of executive pastry chef at the Phoenix Public Market Café. She has also had a hand in the sweet treats that can be found at St. Francis.

As a young Midwest transplant (aren’t we all, well, maybe not the young part), her connection to the food community makes her the perfect person to ask about her favorite local spots. Check out Sarah Chisholm’s favorites and then make a plan to go indulge in her creations.

Friday Bites with Sarah Chisholm

First Date Spot | The Parlor Pizzeria
There’s just something about this place that makes it the perfect spot for a first date. It’s not too formal or overly romantic, there’s no pressure… It’s just great food and great wine in a beautiful space where you can get to know one another.

Authentic Arizona | FnB
When I think authentic Arizona, I think about the restaurants that are using ingredients farmed and foraged in this state. It might be easier to think “Southwestern” in the sense of tacos and tortas (which by all means are delicious!), but to me, FnB represents true Arizona cuisine.  Their hyper-local menu doesn’t stick to any one “style,” but instead focuses on what ingredients are best and what the season is suggesting for the dishes. This theme continues on their wine list, which offers vino from around the state that will truly impress you.

Oldie but Goodie | Durant’s
Gotta love a place where having a martini lunch is not only accepted but encouraged!

Impressing out of towners | Jade Bar at The Sanctuary
This is where I love to go when I need to get a little bit fancy… trade in the kitchen shoes for a pair of stilettos… shake off the stress of the week… and have a drink while the sun sets. The views are unbelievable here and the cocktails pair perfectly with bar snacks, live music, and this awesome city we live in.

Best Brunch | St. Francis
Yes, I’ll admit I am a bit biased since I have made St. Francis’ brunch pastries for about 3 years now, BUT I have loved coming here since before I even worked in the industry. St. Francis is a beautiful restaurant and they really pull out all the stops for their weekend brunch. Wood-fired pastries, live music, green chili and eggs, champagne, and kids eat free?! I mean come on?!
