Sedona, all on its own, is a beautiful location for a getaway. There’s no better spot if you’re looking to get out of town and beat the heat while still staying a little close to home. The air is clean, the people move at a more relaxed pace and the scenery cannot be beaten. If you’re a nature lover, the hiking is diverse and perfect for a beginner, like me, or the more seasoned trekker. If you’re looking for things to do in Sedona we have a great place to start.
One of the best hotels in Sedona, in my opinion, is L’Auberge de Sedona. Their creekside cabins are nothing short of luxurious and they also feature cabins and rooms with red rock views. The resort offers some of the finest dining that you will experience in the area. They also have resort exclusive experiences like stargazing, forest bathing (no swimsuit required, it is more of an immersive nature) and Guided Imagery. You can also experience fantastic live local artists, yoga classes and special experiences with L’Auberge’s Executive Chef Rochelle Daniel.
The resort is currently running a “Cooler by Nature” special. They are offering reduced room rated starting at $325 a night with a two-night minimum stay. The rate reduction is based on the temperature taken between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and creekside at L’Auberge on your arrival. All you need to do is book your stay (between now and August 31, 2016, and then watch the price go down. The discount is based on the temperature difference the date of your arrival, will be applied to your room rate for the entire length of your stay.

Dining in Sedona
L’Auberge is home to three incredible restaurants, all with completely different culinary experiences. Cress is one of the most exquisite restaurants that we have had the pleasure of enjoying, with each new visit more magical than the last. Settle in at a table along the whispering creek and indulge in an incredibly diverse menu. Dishes feature ingredients foraged from the property grounds by Executive Chef Rochelle Daniel.
Etch Kitchen/Bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu items change seasonally based on the availability of locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant decor is artistically designed to bring a little bit of the outdoor beauty indoors.
89 Agave, located just above the property on Highway 89A, features an alternative to the fine dining located on the property. The dishes are still masterfully crafted and celebrate Arizona’s Sonoran-style cuisine done perfectly. They have one of the best street corn dishes I have ever had. If you have trouble deciding on which tantalizing margarita to try they have, wait for it, a flight of margaritas! You’ll be glad the resort is just a walk around the corner and down the hill. The property has complimentary shuttle service should you find you need it, though.
Hiking in Sedona
Like I said before, the hiking here is raved about. In the interest of being transparent, I’m not a sporty gal and therefore haven’t done a ton of hiking. On a recent visit to L’Auberge, I did a short scenic hike along Hogs Trail at Broken Arrow. The views were well worth the sore thighs the next day. If you are looking for something scenic or challenging or something in between, The Hike House is ready to help. They can create a hike for you as well as equip you with anything that you may have forgotten for your hike or didn’t realize that you needed.
Shopping in Sedona
No trip to Sedona is complete without a trip to the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. This inviting center is home to a variety of shops, art galleries, and restaurants. It is the perfect spot to pick up a keepsake of your trip of some unique gifts for friends and family.
So when it comes time to escape the heat but you still want to stay a little close to home, you owe it to yourself to check out L’Auberge de Sedona. With their Cooler by Nature special, there’s no reason not to.
