New cookbook: 150 Best Donut Recipes by George Geary

If you’ve known me for very long, then you know I’m never happier in the morning than when I wake up to a fresh donut waiting for me on a plate. No matter if it’s a raised or a cake donut, I love all kinds, shapes and sizes… but something special must be said for those super-light, airy donuts dripping with hot glaze. Those are my favorite.

150 Best Donut Recipes, a new cookbook written by George Geary released in October and published by Robert Rose Inc., offers up a huge variety of donut recipes from yeast-based, case-based, baked (not fried) donuts, and holiday variations as well as plenty of glaze and filling ideas. Geary is a former pastry chef for the Walt Disney Company and takes you into the world of donut-making in this new cookbook with plenty of tips and tricks along the way.

Before diving in, the book goes into detail about the equipment you’ll use in your kitchen and common donut ingredients, explaining their purpose and why certain ingredients are necessary. With step-by-step photo guides, you’ll learn how to make raised donuts, injected donuts, fritters, bow ties, twists and more.

Each recipe includes a quick tip, description or glaze/filling suggestion from the chef. You’ll find recipes like the Light-as-Air Glazed Donuts, Holiday Eggnog Donuts, Strawberry Rose Donuts, and New Orleans Beignets.
