Born & Glazed Closes in Scottsdale

I can’t imagine everything that it takes to open a restaurant. Even with all the exposure that I have had to restaurants and chefs in the last 5 years, I can only say that it takes a lot of passion, time and money to create your on space. Add to that all of the pressure involved in keeping the doors open and your staff and customers happy, it has to be a constant battle, no matter the quality of your product.Born & Glazed Closes

We learned today about the closing of Born & Glazed in Scottsdale. The sweet spot opened in  June of 2015 and received rave reviews immediately for their creative doughnut flavors as well as their great service and the great space aesthetic. Owners, Nicholas Campisano and Joshua James (also owners of Clever Koi), created the concept and brought artisan doughnuts to the area.

I had a chance to chat with Joshua and while its an unsettling move, both he and Nick are focused on moving forward. “We unfortunately had to permanently close the shop due to unforeseen circumstances with the building. We had a very short lease and had always ultimately planned to move it into a more central location in the future. Nick and I are focusing on Clever Koi Gilbert at the moment, but we will both actively seek a new home for our shop sometime in 2016.”

We’re stoked to have another great restaurant in the East Valley, but we can’t help but be sad about the closure of Born & Glazed. The owners have created a name for themselves in the Valley and we are sure that they will land on their feet with continued success.
