Join the Union: Union Barrelhouse is on its way to Old Town.

Scottsdale is just about to get it first nano-brewery, and it might be just the thing to add a little excitement to the dining and nightlife in Old Town. Union Barrelhouse will take over the space where Salty Senorita once was. This new spot will proudly produce it’s own artisanal craft beer which will be the perfect pairing for their planned upscale tavern cuisine.

Scottsdale restaurateur and owner, John Casale noted, ” We are thrilled to debut our latest restaurant concept to the valley.  Union Barrelhouse will offer a modern spin on popular American classics and pair them with hard-to-find beers and hand-crafted ales. It will be a great complement to the diverse selection of restaurants in Old Town Scottsdale, and moderate pricing will make the experience accessible and inclusive.”

The Bites

Executive Chef Brian Feirstein has created a menu that will focus on fresh food and intense flavors. You can expect anything from farmer’s market salads, classic burgers along with a variety of “modern melts”, the Chef’s take on the classic grilled cheese sandwich. One such creation to look out for is the PB&J, which stands for Pear, Brie and Jam. This melt is created with triple creme brie, bosc pears, bacon jam and wild arugula on sourdough.

The Booze

Their drink program will certainly be the driving force behind the concept. The restaurant will feature five specialty craft beers made in house including Barrelhouse Golden Ale, Barrelhouse IPA,Barrelhouse Imperial Porter, Barrelhouse Hefeweizen, and Barrelhouse Wheat Bock.  The restaurant will also offer nine hand-crafted flavors, seasonal brews, and multiple house blends including Summer Orchard, Peanut Butter Cup, Mexican Motor Oil, Broken Bell Apple Ale, and Last Leaf Toasted Lager. Other features include a 29 degree draft beer, the “Chubs and Growlers” to go, adult shakes and organic sodas on tap, signature margaritas on tap, beer tastings and craftsman dinners, guest beer pairing events, and a “Mug Club.”  Thirty handles of carefully selected local, regional, large craft and domestic beers will be available in addition to American whiskey and bourbon, a wine selection, and six to eight signature cocktails.

While a hard-line opening date for July is not yet available, you can trust that we will let you know as soon as we get that information along with a full review.
