Go Shopping For Love

Back in October, I had the good fortune to meet and visit with local MasterChef hopefuls at the Phoenix auditions. I talked to and got to know over 40 people that day, but there was one person that left an indelible mark on my heart.

Krysten Aldridge was the last person that I spoke to that afternoon. I had seen her throughout the day and she had a confidence about her that made me want to talk to her. That confidence came from the reason she was there. Krysten is the co-founder of ONe TRUe LOVe, a grassroots non-profit organization whose sole goal and mission is to provide reliable, consistent support to individuals living on the streets of the Valley through the distribution of in-kind donations, food and more than anything, love. While Krysten did not make it onto the MasterChef show, I personally think she was robbed, she hasn’t let that stop her from the goals and dreams she has for her organization.

Since December of 2010 they have been able to help over 10,000 people, and they are not even close to being done. ONe TRUe LOVe is working towards acquiring their own food truck so that they can serve and feed more members of the homeless community here in the Valley. The organization has recently partnered with Whole Foods and on June 26th, the Tempe and Chandler Whole Food Markets will be donating 5% of all store sales to them.

If you’re looking to make a shopping trip this week, why not wait until Thursday and really make your shopping dollars count towards something that really matters? I’ll see you there!

If you’re not able to make it to wither Whole Foods locations on Thursday, you can easily donate and help their cause.

Tempe Whole Foods is located at 5120 S. Rural Road.

Chandler Whole Foods is located at 2955 W. Ray Road.
