Sapporo Scottsdale signs on for Scottsdale Culinary Festival signature events

Sapporo Scottsdale, a long-time supporter of local the local arts community, is pleased to announce it will again participate in the Scottsdale Culinary Festival, which will take place from April 9 to 14 and will include daily foodie-forward events, creative food-focused competitions and the biggest food event of the year – The Great American Picnic. Now in its 35th year, the Scottsdale Culinary Festival is the signature fundraising event for the Scottsdale League for the Arts (SLA), which is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts and art education programs in Arizona. This year, Sapporo will step up with participation in two of the Festival’s most popular events: “The Burger Battle” and “Eat, Drink and Be Pretty.”

The Burger Battle

For the first time ever, Sapporo will put its signature Kobe burger to the test as executive Chef Stephen Stromberg will compete in the Burger Battle at Scottsdale Stadium on April 11. All event guests will enjoy each of the competing chef’s burgers, and will name one the 2013 People’s Choice Best Burger in the Valley as expert judges similarly pick their top chops. Cost of event is $55, which also includes beer from Leinenkugel’s, soft drinks, fries, dessert and live entertainment.

Eat, Drink and Be Pretty

After Chef does “battle,” he will be walking the runway and serving up “Haute Couture Cuisine” at Eat, Drink and Be Pretty at Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts on April 12. This fashion-forward experience includes a runway show, models, local fashion and food. Cost of event is $75, which includes all food and entertainment.

“We are already sharpening our knives for the battle and pressing our chef coats for this year’s festivities,” said Chef Stephen Stromberg. “Since 2002, these events and others have helped to raise more than $3.5 million for our local arts programs. Being even a small part of that kind of impact is an honor.”
