Get Ready to Get Fired Up

Local Chef Matthew Carter has done it again. With the success of Zinc Bistro and The Mission, Chef Carter is ready to introduce us to Bonfire Grill and Bar in Downtown Scottsdale, which is set to open its doors March 7th.

I happen to be a big fan of anything on a stick–must be my Midwest roots showing, and I can already hear the sizzle of the grill and see the delectable treats on skewers ready to be savored.

Housed in the former Furio location, Bonfire is reported to feature wood fired cuisine and décor that plays on Arizona’s history. Look out for 7 screens throughout the restaurant that will feature slideshows of Arizona nostalgia showing how Arizona has evolved throughout the years. The vibe is casual and laid back, perfect to spot to stop in for your lunch break or in between shopping. For those of you that get started a little later, Bonfire will offer a full bar and live music.

Their menu is intriguing with, obviously, many skewered options to choose from.  For an appetizer try their Skewered Campari Tomato Salad ($8) served with warm artichokes, blue cheese and zesty lemon vinaigrette. Entrée’s range from the delightful sounding Scottish Salmon ($20) served on Alderwood skewers with fresh lemon, garlic and veggies or if you are Vegetarian, try the Organic Vegetable Skewer ($14) served with Shitake Mushrooms, Campari Tomato, Peppers, Onions, Artichokes, Herbed EVO and garlic.

Like any good Boy or Girl Scout, be sure to round out your meal with the Cast Iron Toasted Marshmallow S’mores, served with thin shaved chocolate, graham cracker cookies and ice cream.
