BLT Steak Closing Should Be a Reminder to Support Local

I typically don’t care to start the day with bad news, but it’s important to stay informed. It’s also a reminder to support your favorite local spots. While BLT Steak is part of a corporate entity, I could just as easily be reporting about your favorite place down the street. The list of recent restaurant closures is lengthy and includes some longstanding favorites; ShinBay, The Upton, Hazelwoods, the list goes on and on. If you have a place you love, visit often and tell your friends. Local business thrive on your support and sharing your experiences with your friends and family.

BLT Steak in Scottsdale has been a fixture for the last 8 years, and we’re sad to report that they will close at the beginning of next month. Make sure you take time to visit them before their closing on September 9th.

Below is a statement from Camelback Inn.

On September 9, 2016, BLT Steak, Scottsdale at the JW Marriott Camelback Inn Resort + Spa will close its doors after eight successful years. We encourage local diners to enjoy this wonderful restaurant before the 9thand get their fill of the brand’s famous Popovers and prime, dry-aged steaks one more time in the Scottsdale location. BLT Steak will continue to operate in its other locations worldwide, including New York, Las Vegas and Washington, DC.

JW Marriott Camelback Inn is always looking for new opportunities to innovate its offerings for both locals and travelers alike, and we are excited to announce that a new restaurant will be opening in early-October, which will celebrate the essence of the Southwest. More information will be released in the coming weeks.

The above circumstance with BLT Steak closing is not one of a lack of visitors or exposure, but it got me thinking about those that aren’t backed by corporations, ones that don’t have a monumental advertising or marketing budget. These are the places that need more chatter, more people talking about their favorite dishes and the outstanding kitchen staff behind them. While you may want to keep some of your favorite spots to yourself, sharing your experiences and love for these spots make sure that you’ll be able to enjoy them for years to come.

**Update – we got an insider scoop on what the new concept is!**
