Schwan’s Cares makes summer fundraising easy (and there’s food involved!)

Now that school is out (or depending on where you live, almost out), if you have kids, you’re probably filling your summer calendar with summer camps, music lessons, Vacation Bible School and other club meetups and hobbies to keep the tiny people entertained before the school year approaches.

If you or someone in your family is a part of a local sports team, a youth group, non-profit group or community church project, you’ve probably had some involvement in a fundraising activity because, after all, all of these fun activities require at least some amount of money to keep them running and fund all the necessary expenses. Fundraising ideas can be difficult to come up with, especially during Arizona summers when it gets so hot and Phoenicians tend to stay indoors to shield from the heat.

To make fundraising a little easier (and much more convenient!), Schwan’s launched a fundraising platform this past fall – Schwan’s Cares™. Through this platform, community members are able to support their favorite causes through an easy-to-create fundraising page on Schwans-Cares.com. It’s super simple. When you visit your group’s fundraising page, you’ll be able to shop online from more than 350 of Schwan’s home-style foods, have them delivered straight to your door and all the while helping the fundraising group meet their goal through your online purchase.

A few local groups have already signed up to participate including:

I’ve always been a big fan of Schwan’s, especially being a busy mom and juggling family and what sometimes feels like a ton of life commitments. I love having my freezer stocked with Schwan’s convenient meals because they are a cinch to prepare but they are soo much better than a quick-frozen dinner that you might find at a grocery store. Many of the items I’ve had the opportunity to taste (as a child growing up and now as an adult) are completely comparable to a home-cooked meal. And sometimes I’ve even preferred Schwan’s dinners to some of the home-cooked meals I’ve eaten, ha!

I recently got to try a couple of the new items and some of the classics, too. The Szechuan Style Chicken Skillet Meal was not only easy to prepare, but it packed a ton of flavor too. The chili-garlic-ginger sauce had just a bit of heat but kept the chicken incredibly moist for being frozen. Tossed with broccoli, red peppers, fire roasted onions and edamame, it made for a filling meal that feeds about 3 people.

My family really enjoyed the Shrimp Spring Rolls, too. They crisped up very nicely in the oven and the slightly spicy Thai Chili Dipping Sauce made them all the more addicting.

The real star though was the Slow Roasted Beef Pot Roast with Gravy. I prepared it in the slow cooker so preparation couldn’t have been easier and oh my, it was so good. The roast was incredibly tender and its juices made a hearty gravy that kept the meat moist for days so we could enjoy leftovers for a couple lunches. This will absolutely be a re-order for me! I love retro dinners and pot roast is one of my favorites.

You can never go wrong with Schwan’s ice cream either—I remember as a kid that I would get SO excited when my dad would order a gallon. Their ice creams have always been super rich and decadent. My family loved one of the newer flavors—the Sea Salt Caramel & Cashew. I’m a sucker for salty-sweet combos and the ribbons of sea salt caramel paired with crunchy cashews was a huge treat for me.
