How Do You Roll Gets Rolling With the Sharks

As a huge fan of most all reality shows, I am on pins and needles in anticipation of the newest episode of ABC’s Shark Tank. If you’re not familiar with the show, entrepreneurs pitch their product or service to a group of well-known investors, lovingly referred to as the Sharks (Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary). You pitch your idea then state how much of an investment you’re asking for and what percentage of the business you are willing to give to the investor in exchange for the funds. More than likely, you will get grilled with questions and sometimes opposition – but that’s business, right? If the investors are compelled by your idea then you could be on the verge of the chance of a lifetime.

It all started with an audition tape sent to the show producers last summer by Yuen and Peter Yung, brothers and co-founders, of How Do You Roll? , after which they were invited to film their episode this past September. “It’s always exciting getting to talk with smart business people,” Yuen, How Do You Roll? CEO, said. “Of course, I was a little nervous pitching to the sharks; they’re sharks for a reason.” How Do You Roll? is a fast/casual Asian restaurant with 12 locations nationwide, one of which is in Phoenix, and is advertised as the first build-your-own-roll where customers can create their own sushi rolls by choosing proteins like raw tuna to grilled chicken and a variety of fruits and vegetables. The restaurant also boasts vegan and gluten-free foods to satisfy diverse dietary needs. Sushi is great, but healthier sushi is better, no?

On the February 15th episode, this fast/casual Asian restaurant with a Phoenix location will face the Sharks to see if they will end up a success story. How will they fare? Make sure to tune in this Friday and check it out for yourself.

Visit our Valley location of How Do You Roll at 1515 N. 7th Ave. Owners Shane and Sherri Sender also own and operate 11 Subway franchises in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Check out the How Do You Roll’s Facebook page or Twitter account for more information about the restaurant.
