Foodiacs.com Launches First Exclusive Offering for Food-Enthusiasts

Foodiacs.com just launched yesterday, a new online community of food-loving enthusiasts connecting its members to exclusive product promotions and services… all centered around our favorite thing: FOOD.

Katie Clegg, Chief Eating Officer of Foodiacs.com, talks about supporting the ‘lesser-knowns’: “We recognize the quality and passion that goes into creating these artisan foods and want to bring lesser known but high quality items to the forefront of the food community in a unique way. Foodiacs is about helping companies get recognition for innovation and outstanding ingenuity – but more importantly it’s about connecting consumers, who are Foodiacs like us, to gourmet food artisans, epicurean products, specialty kitchen equipment and, ultimately, new experiences they’ll love.”

Here’s how it works: They have exclusive product offerings/event already booked through March of 2012. These events will launch every 1-2 weeks on Tuesdays at noon and will feature a variety of unique food-related products only available for a limited time at a limited quantity. Starting in 2012, the site will also connect “Foodiacs” with local food industry leaders for exclusive tastings, culinary tours and educational experiences – something you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

Why it’s cool: Well, take a look for yourself! Their first product offering to kick off the site gives magic mushrooms a whole new meaning… they are offering Mushrooms for Classrooms: Three Kits for $40 as their ‘back to school event’. Back to the Roots has created a Grow-Your-Own-Mushroom Home Gardening kit allowing anyone to grow their own gourmet mushrooms from recycled coffee grounds. With simple care and maintenance, in 10-14 days the kit should produce up to 1.5 pounds of gourmet pearl oyster mushrooms. The cost of two kits is $40, but they are offering you the third for free to donate to the school of your choice. Check out more about the deal and the company’s sustainable concept here.
