Historic Brewing Company Pre-Selling Bottle Club Memberships

This year, Historic Brewing Company was honored with a Silver Medal for a Barrel-Aged Sour called the Avant-Chard, a Chardonnay barrel aged Berliner Weisse. This distinction was more than just a happy win; it was just the right fire to push the team at Historic one step nearer towards their goal of creating the largest barreled beer program in Arizona. From November 15th-December 15th, Historic Brewing Company is seeking to raise $50,000 through an Indiegogo movement to invest into more barrels, lab equipment, and a bottling line.

To meet this target, the brewery is pre-selling memberships into an exclusive bottle club that plans to release three new barrel-aged beers quarterly. The release will be limited to members of the club and will not be available for purchase to the public.

“Just as in great wine, great beer gets better the longer you age it in barrel. Call it the wineification of beer, call it what you will. We call it our next chapter.” – Carole Kennelly, Co-Founder of HIstoric Brewing Company.

Prior to beer, the Kennelly family dabbled in winemaking, where barrel aging is not a novelty. This is where they first developed a curiosity about what happens when you combine the art and techniques of winemaking with another passion of theirs, craft beer. As showed by their recent win, their curiosity is paying off.

As the barrel program grows, Historic Brewing Company plans to experiment with barrels of all kinds including specialty spirits barrels. The goal within the next year is to build their cooperage to 500 barrels and their membership to 1,000. They are only offering 500 spaces in their membership program with plans for their first release in late March of 2017.
