Rumor has it…The Lincoln Restaurant is Coming

Rumor Has It...this guy has something to do with BLT Steak closing

So, typically I keep most rumors to myself but this one got me all twitterpated and I just had to share with you. It’s important to note that I tried every single avenue to confirm this information, but no one (and I mean no one!) is spilling the beans. So, yesterday I shared with you that BLT Steak at The Camelback Inn was closing. Later in the day I received and anonymous tip from a staffer at the property that included a delicious rumor.

So what is the maybe true/ maybe not true scoop? The rumor is that The Camelback Inn property is one of very few Marriott properties that has gotten the go-ahead to create a local restaurant concept. This new concept is rumored to be called The Lincoln Restaurant, after famed resident John C. Lincoln. If you didn’t know the resort was established by John C. Lincoln and Jack Stewart in 1936. The resort attracted hordes of Hollywood celebrities and political leaders, which had a major impact on the areas growth. Stewart wanted to build a pueblo-style hotel that would reflect the Southwestern and Native American culture as opposed to the more prevalent dude ranch style properties of the time. John C. Lincoln put up $200K and the resort was built on the land he owned between Mummy and Camelback mountains. The resort was purchased by Bill Marriott in 1968 and officially re-branded in 2003.

The press release yesterday noted that the new concept will be opening in October and will celebrate the essence of the Southwest, and this theory could fall right in line with that with The Lincoln. We are hoping that this rumor is true, and I think we will know for sure within the next week, according to the PR company that represents the property. I love that they are (allegedly) being able to create a local restaurant and especially one that celebrates one of the founders of the property and someone with so much influence on the Valley.

Do you have thoughts or ideas on what the new concept might be? Think we’re right or way off the mark with The Lincoln Restaurant?
