This month we concentrate on the men in our lives as we arrive upon Father’s Day. As you gather around and watch them as they open their ties, golf tees and precious keepsakes made by little loving hands, make sure that you get some real manly food in the mix as well. Our dads are always seemingly easy to please and that’s because they welcome “dude food” with open arms and empty bellies. Dude Food encompasses the comforting dishes that his mom made growing up, or dishes with a heavy focus on the meat playing center stage. We’ve located some of the most elevated manly meals that any man in your life would be happy with and you may find some new favorites too.
6 of the Best Restaurants in Phoenix for Dude Food

Wally’s American Pub N Grill
5029 N. 44th St., Phoenix; 602.954.2040
Wally’s is everything that you are trying to find in a neighborhood pub; friendly, inviting, warm and with a menu full of comforting dishes. If you’re looking to get a little messy, you have to try their famous meatball hero. This massive sandwich stars huge (in size and flavor) meatballs with a rich house made marinara sauce with the perfect combination of spices. The velvety melted mozzarella provides a touch of salty flavor to the sandwich and adheres perfectly to the other sandwich components. The sandwich filling seems to dwarf the fresh-baked hoagie, so if you’re brave you can eat with your hands, but you might want to keep that knife and fork at the ready!
Windsor
5223 N. Central Ave.| Phoenix| 602.279.1111
This neighborhood favorite has a robust wine, beer and cocktail selection that is ever evolving and makes a great introduction to any dinner, but it is made even more remarkable with the sophisticated pub fare. Ribs often evoke a down-home backyard feel and one bite of Windsor’s New Orleans style pork ribs will quickly transport you to a bayou backyard with the unique combination of spices (is that cinnamon I taste?). The baby back ribs themselves are slow roasted and come bathed in a house barbecue sauce that you can sop up with the accompanying cheddar biscuits. Get in there and get a little messy.
