First look: Crepe Bar

When someone has such a passion for what they do that discussing it with them gives you chills, you can’t help but expect great things.

Recently I had the chance to visit with Jeff Kraus and take a first look at the space that he is currently transforming into Crêpe Bar – sandwiches + drinks + desserts (7520 South Rural Road, at Elliot Road). Kraus’ enthusiasm lights up his face as he demonstrates his vision for the currently empty space. He points at one wall and describes four seat hi tops; over in this area, two tops; in the center of the room, more of a co-working or communal space. As he is pointing around, he pauses and says, ‘Brother, I’ve got chills.’ But it was ok, because so did I. It’s just impossible not to be infected by his fervor.

Jeff Kraus, Owner

When I asked about the name, Crêpe Bar, Jeff said that the name comes from the obvious – a bar, serving sandwiches, drinks, desserts, but also because he intends to ‘raise the bar’ on his food, on his creativity, on community involvement and on diner participation. Specifically, he said that he is setting out to revolutionize the concept of crêpes, to show them in a light that just may blow away even those who are already familiar with his food from the Truckin’ Good Food truck.

I came away even more excited for the opening of Crêpe Bar than I already had been. June can’t come soon enough!

Crêpe Bar is currently classified as ‘under construction’.
