“Worst Cooks in America” Cast Member Kelly Gray Shares an Interview

Kelly Gray, a cast member of Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America” recently answered a few questions for us about her passion to learn to cook and her favorite meals.

Kelly, 32, an aerobics instructor from New York, knows how to get up in front of a class and take control, but she has no confidence in the kitchen. As a vegetarian, she would like to become more self-sufficient, so she can stop living off pre-packaged food.

PhoenixBites Interview With Kelly Gray

PhoenixBites: Of all your favorite meals, what one dish would you like to learn to master?

Kelly Gray: I am a vegetarian so definitely nothing involving meat.  My brother Dave (who is a food critic) makes the BEST squash soup from scratch.  It is delicious and inexpensive and something I would love to be able to do for myself.

PhoenixBites: Is there a person (chef, home cook, family member, etc.) that has inspired you to sharpen your culinary abilities?

Kelly Gray: My sister Shannon is a busy mom to FOUR little girls and she finds the time to cook for them and she makes delicious healthy meals. I am so proud of her – she works AND cooks for a full house!  I hope, if I am ever lucky enough to be a mom, that I can be even one-tenth as awesome as she is.

PhoenixBites: Any advice you can give to our readers who may be beginners in the kitchen?

Kelly Gray: Try to relax – getting stressed out over cooking will only make it worse.  It is cooking, not rocket science.
