PhoenixBites Interview With Lina Yu

PhoenixBites: Of all your favorite meals, what one dish would you like to learn to master?

Lina Yu: I would love to learn how to make a yummy lobster bisque! It’s the fanciest soup I’ve ever had and so delicious. However, the thought of getting an actual lobster in my soup seems a bit tough and I wouldn’t know how to go about it!

PhoenixBites: Is there a person (chef, home cook, family member, etc.) that has inspired you to sharpen your culinary abilities?

Lina Yu: My old co-worker and the person who nominated me, Gwendolyn Lau, has inspired me to become a better cook! She is always so enthusiastic about food and super excited to cook new dishes. She always likes a good food challenge and it’s great to see how her cooking has brought together family and friends.

PhoenixBites: Any advice you can give to our readers who may be beginners in the kitchen?

Lina Yu: Patience and a positive attitude are key. Nothing is perfect the first time around which is where I feel like a lot of people get discouraged. It’s always about trial and error and you can only improve from there.
