Barks and Brews at the Outlets at Anthem

Dog lovers – owners and admirers alike – are invited to Outlets at Anthem Jan. 20 for Barks and Brews, a new event. Shoppers are encouraged to bring their canine companions for an afternoon of pet pampering, live entertainment, family activities and an exclusive Barks and Brews beer garden.
Barks and Brews is a unique fundraiser benefitting Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL). Proceeds from the $1 ticket to the Barks and Brews beer garden, featuring Lagunitas Brewing Company, benefit the non-profit.
Live entertainment for Barks and Brews is up and coming country music duo Waterloo Revival who will play a 45-minute set at 3 p.m. Waterloo Revival’s Cody Cooper and George Birge met in middle school and began writing songs and playing music together through high school. Although they took a break for college, in 2012, they continued to play during school breaks. Their musical chemistry was undeniable, and Birge made the hard sell, convincing Cody to return home to focus all their energy into music. Waterloo Revival was soon born, taking its moniker from their beloved hometown of Austin. In June 2016, Waterloo Revival signed with Toby Keith’s record label, Show Dog Nashville, and joined him on the “Toby Keith Interstates & Tailgates Tour sponsored by Ford F-Series.” One publication described their song, “Backwood Bump,” as a party starter.
Along with live entertainment, the event will include a balloon artist, face painting for children, a special photo booth and special merchandise for dogs. AAWL will also have pets on site available for adoption. Food is available at The Cafes at Anthem, featuring Ruby’s Express, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Charleys Philly Steaks, Famous Wok and Frescas Mexican Grill.
“Barks and Brews is going to be such a fun event,” said Carrie Fortezzo, marketing and special events manager, Outlets at Anthem. “Our stores have been very creative in finding a way to offer discounts, and the atmosphere is going to be completely different from anything we’ve done before. I can’t wait to see shoppers and their favorite furry friends!”
