Review | Chef Lisa Dahl Blends Old-World Charm with Modern Romance

Posted on: October 17th, 2018 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

When I think of Sedona, many things come to mind. I think of peace and serenity, great adventures with friends, romantic getaways with my mister and amazing food. If you‘re looking for romance, amazing views and spectacular food Chef Lisa Dahl is ready to provide you with an experience of a lifetime at Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano.

Chef Lisa Dahl

Chef Dahl seamlessly blends that sought after Old World Italian charm with modern touches of romance and sophistication.

Ambiance

Dahl & Di Luca Interior

You’ll be greeted into a dramatic and perfectly lit dining room with appointments of silk, gold and silver. If you happen to visit on the weekend you’ll be swept away by the lilting music drifting through the space. Candlelit tables and classic white tablecloths smattered with rose petals will set the tone for what is yet to come.

Food

Dahl & Di Luca's Pollo al Rustica

While small in stature, Chef Dahl is a powerhouse in the kitchen and can be found behind the pass on most nights. She glides through the kitchen, overseeing her traditional recipes ensuring that they are plated to perfection as well as making a point to visit guests in the dining room. (Pro tip – if you happen to have one of her cookbooks, which we highly recommend, she‘s more than happy to sign it for you and even snap a photo with you to commemorate your special night.) You won‘t want to miss out on her impeccable pasta dishes like her Pollo Alla Rustica, a brilliant house made fettuccine with grilled lemon chicken, baby spinach and sauteed mushrooms that is delicately infused white truffle cream sauce. Another favorite is the Agnello Scottadito made up of a succulent Australian rack of lamb chops that have been marinated with lemon and fresh herbs and then grilled to perfection.

“When I opened Dahl & Di Luca in the ‘90s, I wanted to create a sophisticated supper club that lovers and companions would continually come back to for special moments and celebrations,” said Dahl. “This limited-edition Romanticismo Decadente Menu in celebration of our 23rd year takes my favorites classic-Italian recipes and packages them into a magical experience for guests. I call it the prelude to the kiss.”

Experience

From now through November30th, Chef Dahl will be celebrating her two decades of success and the history of her first restaurant with her Romanticismo Decadente Menu, a four course prix fixe delight for $65 per person. The menu will feature options for meat lovers as well as vegetarians. Both options will also feature an antipasti of the Caprese d’ Amore and Arancini; a primi of Ravioli Romana; and a choice of Vitello Picatta or Prawns Fiorentina for the entrée. Guests will finish the night off with a nightcap of limoncello and a house-made Lemon Lavender Panna Cotta.

With one of the best wine lists in Northern Arizona, with per 1,000 bottles of wine with European varietals from France, Spain and Italy, guests can add in wine pairings for an additional $35 per person.

Dahl & Di Luca served as Chef Dahl’s launchpad for a growing culinary empire, with a total of six restaurants under her belt by early 2019. It was also where she cut her chops to become one of the top female chefs and restaurateurs in the country, going on to host two sold-out dinners at the James Beard House in New York City, appearing on wildly popular TV shows like Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay” and Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise” and penning two cookbooks, the latest set to publish in early 2019.
