There are a variety of ways to celebrate Oktoberfest across the Valley, from beer dinners and live music to traditional Bavarian fare and the best German beers. With so many opportunities to fill your stein and put on your lederhosen celebrations we’ve put together a 2018 Valley Oktoberfest Guide to make your decision making easier.

Guests will enjoy a four-course Oktoberfest beer and food pairing featuring SanTan craft brews, SanTan giveaways and a chance to win tickets to SanTan Brewing Oktoberfest. The menu includes Hofbrau coleslaw paired with Mr. Pineapple and spatzle with caramelized mushrooms paired with HefeWeizen.

SunUp Brewing is hosting an Oktoberfest beer dinner, pairing four courses from Chef Joshua Pace with seasonal beers from Brewmeister Uwe Boer. The menu includes pot roast with traditional obatzda (German cheese and beer spread) and Fleischkäse (traditional German meatloaf) with Kartoffelpuffer (German potato cake). A vegetarian option is available.

Kick off Oktoberfest at Brat Haus in Old Town Scottsdale with German fare, a wide selection of beers, live music, contests and a special tapping of San Tan Brewing’s Firkin with Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane. Proceeds from the event benefit Honor Flight Arizona, which takes World War II and Korean War veterans to see their memorials in Washington, D.C.

Enjoy a wide selection of beers, a polka band, themed competitions and a commemorative stein (dress in Oktoberfest attire to get steins at half-price) to kick off Oktoberfest.

The event kicks off on September 28 with the official keg tapping ceremony at 6:00pm. The celebration includes a band flown in from Germany, German food and beer, children’s activities and vendors. Attendees can compete for prizes in beer stein holding, best German attire and alphorn blowing contests. Proceeds from the event benefit local charities for veterans and students.

SanTan Brewing Oktoberfest

Cost | $12 in advance, $15 at the door (kids 12 and under are free) for general admission; $125 for VIP admission which include six alcoholic beverages, catered food and preferred seating.
Tickets | Available for purchase online The event features polka music, brat eating and stein holding competitions, tricycle and wiener dog races, and a performance by Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Proceeds benefit St. Joseph the Worker which assists homeless, low-income and other disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment.

Cost | $5 entry fee for guests 21 and over Old World Oktoberfest is hosted by the Arizona Center for Germanic Cultures in partnership with the City of Peoria. The menu will feature German favorites, including bratwurst, sauerkraut, apple strudel, homemade potato pancakes, hand-rolled pretzels and several varieties of imported German beer. The musical entertainment flown in from Germany will lead traditional Oktoberfest sing-a-longs and polka dances. The event will also feature contests and children’s activities.

Cost | Single admission is $10 in advance or $15 at the door or admission for four for $30 with advance purchase.
Tickets | Available for purchase online This 21 and over event features German beer and food, live polka music and Oktoberfest competitions including stein hold, brat and pretzel eating, and a beer maid costume contest. Proceeds benefit Downtown Phoenix Inc. which promotes the revitalization of downtown Phoenix.

The City of Litchfield Park and The Wigwam are hosting a family-friendly Oktoberfest featuring games, activities, festive food and drink, and music from the Phoenix Polka Band. Proceeds benefit the Litchfield Park Recreation Department.

46th Annual Four Peaks Oktoberfest

Cost | Free The free event is open to all ages and features live German music, carnival rides, food, games, dancing, and soccer and kickball tournaments. Food and beverage includes traditional Bavarian favorites, 12 varieties of German beer, and gluten-free vegan and vegetarian options. A Weltenburger VIP Experience and carnival passes are available. The annual fundraiser benefits Tempe Sister Cities and proceeds will be used to send Tempe high school students to 10 of Tempe’s sister cities.

For $69 per person, guests will enjoy two German beers (more available for purchase), live music from a band from Munich, German fare and souvenirs. Proceeds benefit the New Life Center which helps protect families against domestic violence.
