Happy Hour Beat | Beer & Beyond at Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen

Posted on: March 30th, 2018 by Shoshana Leon No Comments

Seventh street in uptown Phoenix has many options for happy hour. Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen, located in the Crown on 7th complex south of Bethany Home Road, offers an open space with a relaxing patio, friendly service and a pleasing selection of happy hour food and beverages.

Founded in 2016, Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen is a collaboration between Phoenix Ale Brewery and the former CEO of NYPD Pizza. It was created as a celebration of craft beer and craft food. The menu is driven by beer. A third of the items are made with one of Phoenix Ale Brewery’s beers and each menu item includes a suggested beer pairing. Beer lovers will appreciate the craft beer selection and beer-inspired dishes. Even if you don’t love beer, you will greatly enjoy happy hour snacks and other libations.

Phoenix Ale Brewery Olives

A selection of olives are served warm and marinated in Phoenix Ale Brewery’s Orange Peel IPA.

Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen offers happy hour from 2pm until 6pm Monday through Friday. The happy hour drink menu includes $4 Phoenix Ale Brewery beers (regularly $6), red and white wines ranging from $5-$8 per glass including selections from Justin, Joel Gott and Chalk Hill, and $1 off well drinks.

Phoenix Ale Brewery Deviled Eggs

Traditional deviled eggs are $3 on Phoenix Ale Brewery Central Kitchen’s happy hour menu.

My friends and I ordered several items from the happy hour menu, including deviled eggs for $3, a juicy Southern fried chicken slider for $6, popcorn with Applewood smoked bacon for $5 and warm olives marinated in Phoenix Ale Brewery’s Orange Peel IPA for $3 (regularly $4). My friend said they were the best olives she ever had, and she raved about the craft beer.

Phoenix Ale Brewery Popcorn

Popcorn with Applewood smoked bacon–what’s not to like?

Since I can’t resist a charcuterie plate, I insisted we order it even though it wasn’t on the happy hour menu. The helpful server described every item including spiced bourbon almonds, jalapenos, a selection of meats, sweet and spicy red pepper jam, grainy mustard made with Phoenix Ale Brewery’s Ironwood Porter and homemade pickles made with Phoenix Ale Brewery’s Biltmore Blonde. Favorites were a homemade pimento cheese spread and a homemade terrine, which is a loaf of meat and other items served cold, similar to pate. The plate included soft pretzel bites and grilled focaccia bread, and we did a commendable job devouring every morsel on that plate.

Phoenix Ale Brewery Charcuterie

There are many things to love about this charcuterie plate–even if it’s not on the happy hour menu.

Since we couldn’t try everything on the happy hour menu, on our next visit we will try seasoned waffle fries for $3, a daily black iron pizza for $10 and a Biltmore Blonde Baja fish taco for $5. Next time I will insist on trying the Ironwood Porter brownie served with vanilla gelato, caramel and chocolate sauce. Dessert made with beer is definitely worth a try.
