Events | Celebrate National Rum Day Tiki Style at Hula’s
Hosted annually on August 16, National Rum Day celebrates this iconic brown liquor originally distilled from sugarcane or molasses in the Caribbean in the 1600s, and rapidly spreading to Colonial North America and soon the entire world. Today, Hula’s Modern Tiki continues this spirited tradition, offering more than a 20 Signature and “Uki Nui” (premium) Tropical Cocktails, as well as 27 of the world’s finest sipping rums available daily.
According to Hula’s owner, Dana Mule, “I was inspired by my lifelong love of rum to offer a wide variety here at Hula’s, from the more accessible brands of Bacardi and Cruzan, to more premium distilleries like Appleton Estate and, my favorite by far, Flor De Cana from Nicaragua. Each Flor De Cana rum is distilled five times during production, then aged in charred, white oak barrels previously used to mature bourbon whiskey. There is nothing like the enveloping warmth of that first sip; smooth on the tongue, with subtle sweetness, soft oakiness and a satiny vanilla after taste. It’s an amazing way to wind down at the end of a long day, or begin an amazing night.”
