Restaurant Opening | The Dude Abides (and imbibes) at The Bar

Posted on: July 11th, 2017 by Taryn Jeffries No Comments

One of my favorite movies has a fun tie to the Valley by way of a fun new neighborhood hangout. A brand new bar, aptly titled The Bar, is proud to announce it has thrown open its doors in Central Phoenix providing distinct Midwestern hospitality, with skillfully poured drinks and sumptuous comfort food. The Bar is positioned at the northwestern intersection of the 32nd Street and Indian School Road.

“I wanted to create a bar atmosphere that reminded me of Michigan and the Midwest that also broke away from the corporate feel that so many establishments convey,” said Michael Withey, The Bar’s sole proprietor. “The Bar has a very comfortable and inviting feel and we’ve already seen several familiar faces from repeat patrons that agree with our genuine and soulful environment.”

Opened for business in late December of 2016, The Bar’s food offerings stem from the proprietors of The Stand, in a spot called Neatly’s. This restaurant within The Bar has the appearance and atmosphere of an old-school laundromat that turns out best-selling ironed ground beef sliders along with pressed sandwiches and folded pork quesadillas as well as crispy boneless wings and numerous other menu items.

While the spirits are expertly prepared by Valley-based veteran bartenders, it’s the discreet yet neighborhood quality that sets it apart from other establishments. And this: The Bar includes a subtle theme by recognizing the pop culture status of The Big Lebowski movie released in 1998. From the picture of Jeff Bridges’ character “The Dude” above the bar to other less noticeable movie features, it’s an excellent spot to imbibe with friends, check out a sporting event, particularly a Michigan-based sports team, and delight in some delicious food.
